Katherine A. Skinner, CPA, CIA, CFE

Director of Internal Audit

Katherine Skinner began working at UNCG in June 2022. Prior to working at UNCG, Katherine worked for over 10 years at the NC Office of the State Auditor (State Auditor) in the Performance Audit Division. At the State Auditor’s Office, Katherine worked on performance and financial-related audits of NC state agencies and entities that receive public funds. Prior to working at the NC Office of the State Auditor, Katherine worked for the North Carolina Department of Revenue as a revenue field auditor.

Katherine has a Master of Business Administration degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in General Accounting from Hartwick College, in Oneonta, New York. Katherine is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Katherine is an active member of the University of North Carolina Auditors Association (UNCAA), the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA), the Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Katherine serves on the ACUA Membership Committee and the UNCG Enterprise Risk Management Committee (ex-officio).
