Ronald Fulton, CFE

Internal Auditor

Ron Fulton has over 20 years of audit and investigative experience. Ron began working at UNCG for the Office of Internal Audit in August 2022. Prior to working at UNCG, Ron worked for nine years at the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) in both the Performance Audit and Investigative Divisions. Ron gained experience at multiple state agencies during his time at OSA by completing engagements at a variety of different agencies, including but not limited to:  Community Colleges, Department of Transportation, Department of Insurance, NC DHHS, and prisons. Additionally, Ron worked for approximately six years at the NC Department of Health Human Services in their Audit Department.  Ron also worked in the private sector for four years in the Internal Audit Department at a fortune-500 bank.

Ron has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an Accounting major, and he is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Additionally, Ron is a member of the following:  the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Ron attends trainings provided by these organizations throughout the year which provides him with valuable information related to auditing at Universities, efficient and effective auditing methods, changes in internal auditing standards, ethics, and fraud-related topics.
